I think that what happened at Scottsboro was like totally biased and unfair.. people back then were so judgemental and I guess we still are of people who aren't 'normal'.. but what is normal?? to be honest I think normal is overrated.. I mean people in our generation and in previous generations judge people just because they speak differently, look different, or just act plain weird... in a perfect world everyone would be treated perfectly and it wouldn't matter what you looked like, or acted like or spoke like.. everyone's made as they are for a reason so judging or discriminating against them isn't cool.. That's what happened at Scottsboro and in to kill a mockingbird.. Harper Lee puts it perfectly when she says "when it's a white man's word against a black man's, the white man always wins"....innocent people were condemned as guilty just because of their ethnicity.. people are harsh.. that's my end thought in all of this.. people are so harsh.

To kill a mockingbird..
I kind of had a dawning recognition the other day.. I was sitting in church and they were talking about the trial of Jesus in front of Pilate.. then later that day I was reading the courtroom scene in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and for me there was a slight connection...
Judge Taylor = Pilate
Tom Robinson = Jesus
The only difference ( apart from the obvious ones.. time, setting etc..) is that Jesus never had an Atticus Finch.. he didn't have someone to stick up for him and stand by him not matter what.. they both got falsely charged and punished... they both had the whole town against them.. they both died.. but for both of them their memory lived on.. I don't know.. it might just be me... but I found it pretty cool :)
For those of you who haven't read the novel and have no idea what I was talking about here is a summary of the novel by enotes. Hope you enjoy...
